The Complete Chinet Autumn Masquerade Placesetting

Now that I've shown you the Multicolor Dinner Plate, I want to show you some of the other items in the tablesetting. They really did turn out beautiful didn't they? It just amazes me I can take Chinets' products and create something so amazing with just basic supplies.  We can use the Chinet line of products for our future parties too as they're so easy to "party up". I can think of a gazillon ways to decorate with these.

Desserts are special when served on Chinet!

Multicolor Dinner Plate

Multicolor Dinner Plate began as a Chinet® Cut Crystal® 10" Dinner Plate.   I used simple Gloss Enamel (acrylic water based) paint sold at the craft store and Martha Stewart Living metallic paint in vintage gold for highlights. The dots were applied using gold glitter glue.  Most of the paint was applied to the back; the glue to the front.  However, all paint could be applied to the back with virtually the same results.  I knew this would be photographed and would therefore need paint applied to the front to reduce glare.

Glitter Dot Dessert Plate

Glitter Dot Dessert Plate This plate began as a Chinet® Cut Crystal® 7" Dessert Plate and co-ordinates beautifully with the Multicolor Dinner Plate. Using the embossed design of the plate, I easily used gold glitter glue to place dots on the rim of the plate and to encircle the edges on the back. If you wish, the dots could be placed on the back. After allowing to dry, I used black Gloss Enamel to paint over the stripe area where I had previously placed the dots.

Glitter Dot Cup

Glitter Dot Cup This cup began as a Chinet® Cut Crystal® 14 oz. Cup. For both cups, like the plates, I used the pattern of the cup to determine the placement of the paint. It was really simple. For this cup I used gold glitter glue and black gloss enamel paint. These will be used as our beverage cup.

Multicolor Cup

Multicolor Cup This cup began as a Chinet® Cut Crystal® 14 oz. Cup. I used simple Gloss Enamel (acrylic water based) paint sold at the craft store and Martha Stewart Living metallic paint in vintage gold for highlights. Because these cups are painted all the way to the rim and because they are more labor intensive I decided to use them as a decorative piece rather than a beverage cup. They will serve as the holder for the table arrangement.

TIP Create a simple motif and repeat it throughout the decor. This creates visual appeal and interest your party guests will appreciate. The motif I chose to repeat for the Ultimate Block Party is the masquerade mask.

Masquerade Twirler

Details to follow on the wonderful Masquerade Twirler

Masquerade Napkin Tie

Masquerade Napkin Tie These cute little mask napkin ties are made of felt embellished with glitter glue and rhinestones. I used a pattern to make two sizes of the mask (one purple, one black) and glued the together. After the glue was dry, I punched holes in both sides of the mask and attached ribbon.

The prefolded Chinet® Dinner Napkin is easily placed and looks elegant in this napkin tie.

Pumpkin Party and Masquerade Twirler

These "Twirlers" are super fun and add a real party-vibe to the decor.  I've laid the Masquerade Twirler next to the placesetting for an additional burst of color. It makes a great party favor for guests to take home. You'll notice the Pumpkin Party Twirler in the Table Arrangement.

Detail - Pumpkin Party

All of the supplies are basic from Michael's Crafts.  The pumpkins are orange glitter foam balls that I cut in half and painted on the faces.  The sticks are chopsticks.  The top pumpkin is a whole ball that I just pushed down over the chopstick.

I painted the gold line on the stick using Martha Stewart gold paint.  The black glitter disk and gold glitter lettering are scrapbook supplies.

Masquerade Twirler

Isn't this Twirler fabulous?  It looks much more difficult to make than it was.  As with any craft project, do it assembly line and you'll be able to crank them out pretty quickly.

Detail - Masquerade Twirler

I first made the masks and painted the sticks and pumpkins.  The pumpkins are pretty small; if you feel more comfortable, you can use a Sharpie to draw on the faces rather than painting them but the details won't be quite as crisp IMO.  I then painted stripes and dots on the ribbons.  Next I put the large pumpkin on the stick.  Then I tied on the lilac ribbon, glued on the mask (using hot glue), added a small pumpkin, and finally tied on an orange and black ribbon.

Masquerade - Swan, Adult and Cardinal

This years block party theme is Autumn Masquerade. I know the kids in particular are really excited.  To get the rest of you a little more in the mood I thought I would post some pictures.  I'm so pleased with the way these masks turned out.  They look nice, they were inexpensive to make and they took very little time.  My idea of a great craft project.

White Swan and Red Cardinal
Chinet has an owl mask (see the pin on my board http://pinterest.com/d3sign3r/ultimate-block-party/ ) already made at their website which is just adorable.  I know a couple of the boys will love this. So here are some additional ideas I came up with using simple supplies:  Chinet® Classic White™ 10 3/8" Dinner Plate, paint, feathers felt, and ribbon.

The top, white mask is a swan and the bottom, red mask is a cardinal.

I used the black mask to trace a guideline on the Chinet plate. I then cut out the mask and painted it and applied embellishments with hot glue (don't let the kids do this unsupervised ever!). I punched holes in the sides and attached ribbons for ties.

White Swan

The nose is a square piece (larger for the swan) of orange felt glued in place.  The kids can make these at the party with prepped materials and a little supervision.

So many animal and fantasy creature masks could be made using this basic idea.  I really had a LOT of fun with these.

The final picture is the adults mask which is a basic craft store mask. I purchased a pack of four of these for under $2.00 and used glitter glue to glue on rhinestones.  These take about five minutes to make!  These great masks will be handed out to adults as they arrive at the party.

Ghostly Party Goodies

Here's a sneak peek to get the kiddos excited about the party.  This is the goody bag and a few of the other little crafty things I've been working on.  The sweet little ghost (templates can easily be found doing a search for "ghost" )  was crafted out of a Chinet paper plate! Everything down to the little pumpkin faces is all handcrafted!
